CAS Project Day 30: April 30, 2020

My CAS project is done! I am so happy with how the celebration stunned out. We began the day splitting into groups by advisory to have the chopstick relay race. Essentially students had to pass a piece of candy across the room using chopsticks. It was so funny to watch and observe. It was also so nice to see people enjoying a day that I had planned.  The food was all amazing and there was so much that everyone could have seconds.  I am so happy with how my project turned out.  Honestly, there were very few challenges but I learned so much. I learned so much about group work and communicating with others. This CAS project in a way allowed me to both engage with creativity, activity, and service.

CAS Project Day 25: April 25, 2020

5 days left! So so close to being done with my CAS project! Everything is ready to go and is so perfect. I feel that I have shown so much commitment to growth and have grown as a person in so many ways.  I do not have much more to report as I am closing in on the end of this project.

CAS Project Day 20: April 20, 2020

It is nearing the end of my journey with my CAS project. I have almost everything ready for the celebration. I am so excited and cannot wait. I feel so good about where I am at and am just so excited! Everything is for the most part in order.  Every student taking Chinese is going to bring a dish that they cooked at home themselves! And we will have so much food.  Everything is falling into place.  I feel that in some ways during this process I have experiences every single learning outcome!

CAS Project Day 15: April 15, 2020

It is day 15 of my CAS project and I am doing so well! I have made so much progress. Today I went to the store and bought supplies to stuff all of the red envelopes I have to pass out. Some of what I bought to stuff the envelopes are candy, mini cakes, jellies, and so much more!  I am so excited about the cooking aspect of the Chinese New Years' celebration! I would love to teach myself how to cook some authentic dishes such as hot pot! Well, that's all I have for now! So excited about this project.

I am so excited to see where we go from here!

CAS Project Day 5: April 5, 2020

It is officially day 5 of my CAS project and things are going very well. In my last blog, I discussed assembling my team. I assembled my team based on people I can trust and rely on. I am very proud of our communication and how far we have already come. We have begun the true planning process of the Chinese New Year celebration. We are having daily discussions about what we want to cook and how we want to have student participation. I am very proud of my team and our work. We are doing so well and are learning so much along the way. I would say we have really had some of the learning outcome #1 as we are identifying our challenges and are learning where and how we need to grow.

CAS Project Day 1: April 1, 2020

Today is day 1 of my CAS project. For my CAS project, I am planning the Chinese New Year celebration. This is going to be very difficult and prove to be challenging.  Today I worked with Mr. Zhou to assemble a team of students to help me with bringing my project to life.  I now have a team of people whom I can rely on and trust throughout this process.  I have little to report at this time but I am excited to see the final product of my project and how this goes.

Service: Learning Outcome 2: April 2020

I love to help whenever I can. Because I love to help, I volunteered my services at the school's open house. I volunteered my time. During my time working at the open house, I spoke to parents, incoming students, and anyone who had a question for me. It was a long and tiring night and I found myself getting very sleepy. But I overcame this tiredness and pushed through which is why this is learning outcome #2.  I knew that I was facing challenges and being challenged but I pushed through I learned of other skills I have such as determination and will power. I willed myself to keep going and work through it. I continued to present and talk to people.  Overall it was a very good night. I am happy to have served my school.
